When it was released near the end of 2023, the Geekbar Pulse immediately became the most popular vaping device in the world. Geekbar isn’t a company that’s content to rest on its laurels, though, and they immediately got to work on developing a next-generation version of their famous vape. The Geekbar Pulse X finally hit the market in 2024, and it’s objectively a better and more advanced device than the original Geekbar Pulse.
Despite the fact that the Pulse X is a more advanced device, though, the original Geekbar Pulse remains the most popular vape that Geekbar makes. It’s entirely possible that you’re an enormous Geekbar fan who has never tried the Pulse X at all.

The Geekbar Pulse and Pulse X Both Support Pulse Mode
The Geekbar Pulse and Pulse X both have dual-coil designs and support Pulse Mode. In terms of performance and flavor, they’re virtually the same.
When the Geekbar was first released, the standout feature was the fact that it offered a new vaping mode called Pulse Mode. Here’s how it works.
- The Geekbar Pulse has two coilsand offers two selectable vaping modes. You can choose the mode using the switch on the bottom of the device.
- In the normal mode, one coil is active. When you use the device, it alternates from the first coil to the second each time you puff on it.
- In Pulse Mode, the two coils work together. This allows the device to produce nearly twice as much vapor, though it also uses the e-liquid supply more quickly.
Before the release of the Geekbar Pulse, all disposable vapes had only one coil and offered only one vaping mode. The Pulse was so popular that other manufacturers immediately began copying its dual-coil design – and as you might expect, the Geekbar Pulse X works in the same way.
The vaping modes on both the Geekbar Pulse and Pulse X are controlled in the same way. Regardless of which device you’re using, you can adjust both the mode and the airflow using a switch on the bottom of the device. With both devices, a “Close” position is also available that you can use to turn your vape off.
The Geekbar Pulse X Has a Stylish Curved Light Show
The Geekbar Pulse X has a curved light show that adds visual interest to the smart display. However, it doesn’t show more information than the display on the original Geekbar Pulse.
Compared to the original Geekbar Pulse, the biggest selling points of the Pulse X are its higher puff count – which we’ll discuss in a moment – and a curved display. The display of the Pulse X includes a star-themed light show that wraps around the device’s front panel. The light show adds visual interest to the display and really makes the Pulse X stand out, although the segmented display doesn’t show any information that isn’t also shown on the original Geekbar Pulse.
The smart screens on the Geekbar Pulse and Pulse X both show:
- Whether the device is using the single-coil mode or Pulse Mode.
- The battery’s current charge level.
- Approximately how much more vape juice you can use until the device will be empty.
The Geekbar Pulse X Has a Larger E-Liquid Supply and Puff Count
The Geekbar Pulse X contains 2 ml more vape juice than the original Geekbar Pulse, so you can expect it to last about 12.5 percent longer.
The second major feature of the Geekbar Pulse X is the fact that it contains more e-liquid and is advertised to have a much higher puff count than the original Geekbar Pulse. Here’s how they break down.
- The Geekbar Pulse contains 16 ml of vape juice and is advertised to last up to 15,000 puffs.
- The Geekbar Pulse X contains 18 ml of vape juice and is advertised to last up to 25,000 puffs.
If you’re reading closely, you might have noticed that the above information doesn’t quite make sense. How could one vape deliver 10,000 puffs more than another if it only has 2 ml more vape juice? The answer, of course, is that it can’t. Unfortunately, manufacturers have a tendency to exaggerate their devices’ puff counts a bit. Still, there’s no denying the fact that the Pulse X has 12.5 percent more e-liquid than the original Pulse. Based on that, you can definitely expect it to last 12.5 percent longer. That’s at least an extra day of vaping.
The Geekbar Pulse Is More Popular and May Cost More
Some vape shops that carry both the Geekbar Pulse and the Pulse X may charge more for the original Pulse due to its popularity.
Despite the fact that the Geekbar Pulse X is newer and objectively more capable than the Geekbar Pulse, the original Pulse remains the more popular of the two devices. There are several possible reasons why that could be, and those reasons don’t really have anything to do with the quality or features of the devices.
The Geekbar Pulse may be more popular than the Pulse X because:
- It has a larger flavor selection, and some people’s favorite flavors aren’t available for the Pulse X yet. Although the Pulse X has been available for more than a year, the Pulse X still has a larger flavor selection – one of the largest flavor selections of any disposable vape. It’ll be a long time before any other device catches up.
- It’s produced in higher volumes, so there may be some vape shops that have the Pulse available but don’t have the full flavor selection for the Pulse X.
- Some people are simply sticking with what they usually buy out of familiarity. They’re happy with their current vaping experience and aren’t interested in changing it.
Regardless of the reason, the fact is that more people are looking for and buying the original Geekbar Pulse despite the fact that the Pulse X has been available for more than a year. For that reason, some vape shops may charge more for it than they do the Pulse X. If that’s the case at your favorite vape shop, you can potentially save money – and get more e-liquid – if you buy the Pulse X.
